Wall Mounted Windsock Poles for Industrial, Commercial and Specialist Sites

Piggotts wall mounted windsock poles provide a practical wind direction indicator where ground mounting is unsuitable or space is limited. Designed for installation onto suitable walls, façades and structural surfaces, they offer a clear and reliable indication of wind direction without requiring a freestanding mast or ground foundation.

Each system combines a durable high visibility windsock with a vertical mounting bracket and freely rotating swivel arm, allowing the windsock to align naturally with changing wind conditions.

Wall mounted systems are particularly useful on industrial buildings, warehouses, workshops, treatment facilities, depots, ports and other commercial sites where operators need an immediate visual indication of wind direction.

Manufactured using durable materials and backed by Piggotts’ long established textile expertise, these systems are suitable for permanent outdoor installation and can be supplied in aluminium or glassfibre configurations depending on the required height and site conditions.

Designed for Space Restricted Sites

A wall mounted windsock can be installed where a traditional ground mounted mast would be impractical due to restricted space, underground services, vehicle movements or limited access.

The vertical bracket secures the assembly to a suitable structure, while the swivel arm allows the windsock to rotate through the wind and remain visible from the surrounding operational area.

Correct positioning is important. The windsock should be mounted in a location where airflow is not excessively disrupted by rooflines, parapets, plant, nearby structures or other obstructions.

Suitable Applications

  • Industrial buildings
  • Warehouses and distribution centres
  • Chemical and process facilities
  • Waste and recycling sites
  • Water treatment works
  • Ports and marine facilities
  • Manufacturing plants
  • Construction compounds
  • Logistics depots
  • Commercial premises
  • Emergency response locations
  • Sites with restricted ground space

Available Configurations

Wall mounted windsock systems can be supplied in a range of pole, bracket and windsock configurations to suit different buildings and operational requirements.

  • Vantage aluminium poles in a range of mounting heights
  • Glassfibre poles for selected applications and heights
  • Vertical wall brackets for attachment to a suitable structural surface
  • Rotating swivel arms that allow the windsock to follow changing wind direction
  • High visibility orange windsocks for clear visual wind indication
  • Replacement windsocks available separately when the fabric reaches the end of its service life
  • Bespoke mounting arrangements available for unusual structures or site requirements

Important Installation Considerations

The performance and safety of a wall mounted windsock depend on the condition of the supporting structure, the mounting position and the surrounding airflow.

  • Supporting structure: The wall or framework must be suitable for the weight and wind loads generated by the complete assembly
  • Fixings: Wall fixings must be selected for the construction material and expected loading conditions
  • Mounting height: The windsock should be positioned high enough for good visibility and, where practical, above nearby obstructions
  • Airflow: Roof edges, parapets, ventilation plant and adjoining buildings can create turbulence or shield the windsock from the true wind
  • Clearance: The windsock must have enough space to rotate and inflate without contacting the wall, roof or nearby equipment
  • Access: A safe method of reaching the windsock and swivel assembly will be needed for inspection, cleaning and replacement
  • Structural assessment: A competent structural assessment may be required for exposed, unusually high or nonstandard installations
