All of our flagpoles come with a recommended wind speed (listed in mph). More often than not, the given speed will assume that the flagpole has a flag attached. Think about where you intend to put the flagpole. Is it a typically windy location? Will it be exposed to harsh weather conditions in winter? Try searching for a wind chart specific to your area. Desired height and intended location of your flagpole

Another important consideration is where you are going to install your flagpole. The height of the surrounding buildings, structures, trees and foliage may be a factor in determining your required height. You may wish to fly a flag below the level of an adjacent building which would provide protection from particularly strong winds. Alternatively, you may want a flag and flagpoles large enough to be seen above surrounding buildings or tree lines.
